Chris O’Donnell, Former Robin, Picks ‘Best Batman’ (And It’s Not George Clooney)
Chris O’Donnell, known to history as one of the worst ‘Robins’ of all time, has picked his best ‘Batman’, and it’s a bombshell. Star of the infamous “Batman & Robin” with George Clooney and “Batman Forever” with Val Kilmer, O’Donnell did not pick any of them for his ‘top-bat’ position. Read on to find out more.
For Chris O’Donnell, Batman is Adam West all the way. The veteran of TV drama “NCIS: Los Angeles” was in conversation with Fox News when he revealed his top pick to don the cape and cowl:
“For me it will always be Adam West. I loved the show. I just watched a documentary about him and his career and facing the challenge of being Batman. I worked with two very talented actors: Val [Kilmer] and George. We had a lot of fun George and I, but the film was a disaster.”
And disaster it was, with O’ Donnell famously nominated for the Razzie award for worst supporting actor for his ‘Robin’ in “Batman & Robin.” In fact, the film received a whole host of Razzie nominations for Joel Schumacher (Worst Director), George Clooney and Chris O’Donnell (Worst Screen Couple), Akiva Goldsman (Worst Screenplay), both Chris O’Donnell and Arnold Schwarzenegger (Worst Supporting Actor), Uma Thurman (Worst Supporting Actress), as well as Billy Corgan (Worst Song for “The End Is the Beginning Is the End”). “Batman & Robin” also received nominations for Worst Picture, Worst Remake or Sequel and Worst Reckless Disregard for Human Life and Public Property (via Comic Book).
And of course the notorious ‘Bat-nipples’ on George Clooney’s suit are now too famous to even bear discussion.
O’Donnell’s acting chops might not have improved with age (one of his recent movies is “Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore”) , but his picking of Adam West over George Clooney shows one thing: his taste in movies certainly has.
