The year 2014 became the year when actor Chris Pratt turned from being the well-known supporting actor to being the breakthrough actor since he landed the Starlord role for Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” That’s just one franchise. This year, he will be coming back to the theaters as he will be hunting the Indominus Rex with his Raptor squad in the new installment of the “Jurassic Park” franchise, “Jurassic World.” With his star status shining now more than ever, it’s no surprise that the actor is being eyed to play numerous lead roles. He’s been in talks to take the lead for the “Knight Rider” reboot amongst many others, but the hottest role he’s been eyed for is to be the next Indiana Jones.
In the recent scoop of Cinema Blend, a video the “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor was ambushed with reporters when was about to head out of the airport after gathering his bags. A man holding up a sign of “Indiana Jones” took a picture with him, and the actor did nothing but obliged with a quizzical pose. He was then asked by a reporter from TMZ about his involvement in the “Indiana Jones” remake. The actor responded with a mixture of maybe, no and I don’t know. It’s visibly seen in the actor’s face that the context is strange to him but he gave a nondenial, noncommittal response.
“No. I don’t know. I just got back from being in the woods, killing a bunch of stuff. Maybe, but this is very jarring. I had no idea. First I’m hearing of it,” said the actor, as published in the Cinema Blend feature.
The news about the “Indiana Jones” remake has recently circulated the web about some weeks ago, and lots of actors are being eyed to play the eponymous role. “American Sniper” star Bradley Cooper is one of those names that popped up, but with Pratt’s name surfacing alongside him and his current engagement with Disney, it’s pretty plausible that Starlord will be setting aside his space – related gizmos and take on the iconic hat and whip.
Nothing absolute yet for his future in playing Indy, but Pratt will be seen in theaters this year in the opening of “Jurassic World” on June 12, 2015. He will also be reprising his role as Peter Quill, aka Starlord, in “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” on May 5, 2017.
