Chris Pratt Reportedly Cast as Lead In “Cowboy Ninja Viking” Film Adaptation
Chris Pratt, the breakthrough star of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," will be playing lead in the upcoming adaptation of the graphic novel “Cowboy Ninja Viking.” Read on for more details on this story.
According to Comicbook.com, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor is set to play the lead role to the film adaptation of the graphic novel from Image Comics. He will take on the role as a patient with Multiple Personality Disorder. He will be turned into who is turned into a specialized assassin. He will be named as Triplet, which is from having different assassin personas. In Duncan’s case, he will have three: one is a cowboy, another ninja and the other a Viking. The plot revolves around Duncan breaking free from the program and attempting to hunt down the billionaire behind it all.
Pratt confirms the role in his tweet on social media site Twitter.
It was also reported that yhe project has been in development for years with "Zombieland" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick penning the script for Disney. The studio passed, and the project was picked up by Universal, who attached “Quantum of Solace” director Marc Forster. Forster has since left the project, and currently no director is attached for the pic yet.
“Cowboy Ninja Viking” is an Image Comics comic book created by writer A.J. Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo. It debuted in 2009 and released through Image Comics' partner studio, Shadowline. The series revolves around a counter-intelligence unit of Multiple Personality Disorder patients. They were formed by psychotherapist Dr. Sebastian Ghislain, transformed into agents known as Triplets – hired killers who are able to manifest three other personalities.
Pratt is best known for his television role as Andy Dwyer in the NBC comedy mockumentary, “Parks and Recreation.” Throughout his early career, he was known for playing supporting characters such as Scott Hatteberg in “Moneyball,” U.S. Navy SEAL Justin in “Zero Dark Thirty,” Paul in “Her” and Brett in “Delivery Man.”
By 2014, Pratt as cast as a lead in the computer-animated film, “The Lego Movie,” where he voiced Emmet Brickowski. He then got his breakthrough when he starred as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which has become third and first highest-grossing feature films of 2014, respectively.
Pratt is currently working on the final season of “Parks and Recreation.” He will be seen next on “Jurassic World,” which is scheduled to be released on June 12, 2015 and the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel, where he will reprise his iconic role as Peter Quill or Star Lord.
