Christian Bale Shoots Down Rumors of Donning the Cape Again for ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’
To begin with, this was the most outrageous rumor in the superhero genre and perhaps there’s nothing that will ever be able to top this one. More surprisingly, there were some people who actually wasted their time believing that something like this could be true! Now Christian Bale himself has offered his thoughts in his very own style about the rumors.
According to Cinema Blend, as soon as Christian was asked about the rumor, he made sure to shoot it down from his side before media outlets go berserk again with some other report. According to “The Dark Knight Rises” actor, this is the first time he has even heard of the rumor as he stated that everyone is aware of Ben being the Batman now.
The actor even elaborated that he won’t be donning the cape anytime soon for the role because probably he is done with the role. According to some old reports, Christian was reportedly offered $50 million to reprise his role as the Dark Knight in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” but because he didn’t want to spoil a perfect trilogy that Christopher Nolan brought on-screen, he refused to reprise the role.
Besides this “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is a part of the DC Extended Universe and Christian Bale was the Batman in Nolan’s Batman universe, which was way different than a superhero movie. DCEU wanted to show a different version of the Batman and in a way reboot him for the cinematic universe. Given the fact that Batman is one of the most popular superheroes in the world, including his backstory wasn’t really necessary as everyone is aware of it. Even if Nolan’s Batman universe were to be merged with the DCEU, Ben Affleck playing the role of Dark Knight is just perfect.
Think about it, Christian’s Bruce killed the Batman persona in the end of “The Dark Knight Rises” and was seen sitting somewhere in Europe with Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle with Michael Caine’s Alfred spotting him. In “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Bruce will be older and Batman will be seen after a long time because he hasn’t been around for a while.
This makes perfect sense because after the Europe escapade Bruce must have quietly returned back to Gotham because his other personality had apparently died. Since “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” events are going to take place a few years after the events of “The Dark Knight Rises,” Ben’s Bruce Wayne is just an older version of Christian’s Bruce Wayne.
Yahoo! Celebrity added the rumor that stated Ben Affleck is not playing the role of Bruce Wayne; instead he is someone else who has taken on the persona of Batman from the Billionaire. Rumors suggested Ben was playing Slade Wilson, which was absolutely ridiculous.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will release next year on March 25th.
