Cote de Pablo to Star in CBS’ The Dovekeeper Miniseries

Cote de Pablo, former “NCIS” star, returns to CBS. The actress stars in CBS’ newest four-hour miniseries, “The Dovekeepers.” Read on for further details about this story.

The show is based on Alice Hoffman’s critically acclaimed novel, “The Dovekeepers,” the spellbinding tale of four remarkable women, living very different complex lives, and how their paths and lives intersect as they desperately struggle to survive and fight for their lives during the “Siege of Masada.” The novel’s setting was based on real-life events that transpired during 70 CE, wherein 900 Jews held out for months against the Roman army on a mountain in the Judean desert of Masada.

Cote de Pablo will play as Shirah, referred by many as the ‘Witch of Moab’. She secretly practices ancient and forbidden magical rites and has a strong familiarity with herbal medicines. Shirah is described as a “sensual, mysterious and fiercely independent single mother with uncanny insights and a quiet and mysterious power.”

In an interview with executive producer, Roma Downey, she explained why they picked de Pablo as part of the cast.

“We are thrilled to have Cote de Pablo starring in ‘The Dovekeepers’. Her talent, strength and beauty will light up the screen in the important role of Shirah,” said Downey in the TV Line report.

The actress has starred as Ziva David in CBS’ hit series, “NCIS,” for eight seasons before leaving the show in 2013. She debuted on her feature film, “The Last Rites of Ransom Pride,” directed by Tiller Russel. She has also starred in the legal drama “The Jury” and has made appearances on CBS network’s “The Education of Max Bickford” and on”Fling,” and “The $treet.” It was also announced in January 2014 that she was being casted in the film “The 33,” which is based on true events that conspired at the 2010 Copiapo mining accident. She was cast to portray as a wife of one of the miners. Also part of the ensemble cast are Juliette Binoche and Antonio Banderas.

The four-hour miniseries, from executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, is a first from CBS Television Studios ’ Limited Series and Event Programming unit and CBS Entertainment. Dovekeepers is scheduled to air on CBS in 2015.
