Crossbones Episode 3 The Man Who Killed Blackbeard Sneak Peek [WATCH VIDEO]
Fans of the newest pirate-themed series starring John Malkovich will have to wait for another week before the release of the latest “Crossbones” episode. Until then, let us reminisce on what previously happened with the recap of Season 1 Episode 2 “The Covenant,” plus a sneak peak for Season 1 Episode 3 “The Man Who Killed Blackbeard.”
“Crossbones” Season 1 Episode 2 “The Covenant” aired on Friday, June 6, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on NBC. It was directed by Ciaran Donnelly and written by Blake Masters.
Blackbeard (John Malkovich) and the other rogue pirates had finally fixed the encrypted chronometer with the help of Kate’s (Claire Foy) crippled husband, James Balfour (Peter Stebbings). Tom Lowe (Richard Coyle) was tasked to make their own replica of Nightingale’s invention. Unfortunately, James beat him to it.
So what was Lowe’s role in the pirate island now? Tom was now the island’s designated surgeon. He had been enlisted by Kate to examine and diagnose her crippled husband. In “Devil’s Dominion,” Tom previously poisoned Blackbeard but came back after seeing the Spanish viceroy in the rival’s territory. On the other hand, Lowe was also in line for being on trial. Fletch (Chris Perfetti) found the body of a pirate’s male lover he killed.
Sam Valentine (Stuart Wilson) was a popular pirate, who had shared a past with Blackbeard during their heyday. He and his blindfolded crew arrived at the pirate island. He was called to make a deal about the chronometer with the Blackbeard-obsessed William Jagger and the British government. He was also told that the pirate needed two hell burners in exchange of the deal. Unfortunately, Valentine and Blackbeard ended the deal without agreeable terms.
During the night, Blackbeard had forged a plan to fulfill his revenge on his old friends. He planted two of Valentine’s crew members and ordered them to kill him. Blackbeard survived and killed his two assailants alone. Valentine, along with Lowe, was put to trial.
With Kate’s help, Lowe was saved, and the other was hanged. It was because of his accurate examination of her husband. He even got the chance to stay close and make out with the woman. Little did he know, Blackbeard had a part in it for his future plans for Lowe.
And that’s it for the “Crossbones” recap for Season 1 Episode 2 “The Covenant.” Episode 3 “The Man Who Killed Blackbeard” will air on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10:00 p.m. on NBC.
