CSI: Cyber Update: Season 1 Spoilers
A new show is coming to the small screen this fall as CBS launches the “CSI spin-off, “CSI: Cyber.” Read on to learn more about this scoop.
“CSI: Cyber” is the latest spin-off of the hit crime procedural show “CSI.” Since its conception, “CSI” has spawned off into different spin-offs, such as “CSI:Miami” and “CSI: New York.”
According to TV Line, the new spin-off will follow Special Agent Avery Ryan, the Special Agent in Charge at the FBI’s Cyber Crime Division. The series will focus on crimes that begin in the mind, are put online and then carried out in the real world. This show is based on Mary Aiken, a real-life cyber psychologist. Special Agent Avery Ryan will be portrayed by actress Patricia Arquette. The actress’ credits range from television to film, such as “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors” (1987), “The Medium” (2005 to 2011), and “Boardwalk Empire” (2013).
Joining Arquette in the cast of the new “CSI” drama are Charley Koontz, Peter MacNicol and Bow Wow.
Koontz is best known for his role as Neil in “Community” (2011 to 2014). For “CSI: Cyber,” he will be portraying Agent Daniel Grummitz, a “technical genius.”
MacNicol, on the other hand, is best known for his work in film and television. His acting credits include “Sophie’s Choice” (1982),”Ghostbusters II” (1987), “The Powers that Be” (1992 to 1993), “Bean” (1997), “Chicago Hope” (1994 to 1998), “Ally McBeal” (1997 to 2002), “”24” (2007), “Numb3rs” (2005 to 2010) and “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (2013). He will be portraying Assistant Director Stavros Sifter, the supervisor of Avery Ryan, for the new “CSI” spin-off.
Actor James Van Der Beek is best known for his roles in “Dawson’s Creek” (1998 t0 2003) and “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23” (2012 to 2013). He will play FBI Agent Elijah Mundo, a savant when it comes to weapons, a battlefield forensics expert and a “self-proclaimed action junkie.” He often puts himself at risk while searching for justice, which Ryan will tame with her knowledge of psychology.
The latest reported cast member is actor and performer Bow Wow (Shad Moss). He will be portraying Brody “Baby Face” Nelson, who is ordered to work with Ryan on a case or else serve time in prison. He is a cyber-intrusion savant who ends up working for Ryan and struggles to keep himself out of trouble while he is at it. His acting credits include “”Like Mike” (2002), “Entourage” (2008 to 2009), and “Scary Movie 5” (2013).
