Cuba’s Daryanne Lees wins Miss Grand International 2014 Title [WATCH VIDEO]
After more than three hours of concluding rounds inside Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok, Thailand, the winners of Miss Grand International 2014 were announced. The 27-year old statute beauty Daryanne Lees was given the title and crown as this year’s Miss Grand International at the 2nd edition Miss Grand International pageant. This year 85 countries and territories, including representatives of Iran and even Kurdistan, took place in the event. Daryanne was born and brought up in Puerto Rico and now lives in the United States. She previously participated in several pageants such as Miss Puerto Rico Teen, Miss World Puerto Rico and Miss Universe Puerto Rico.
Currently, she is employed by the Hilton Hotel as a front desk manager at the Hilton Hotel in Tampa, Florida, where she moved. She represented Tampa in Miss Florida USA but did not succeed. Some of the trivia about her include having one Cuban parent and even a degree in Business administration. Lees, who was already in the industry for 9 years, has been participating in pageants since she was 18 years old. Her height is 1.71 ml.
The four other ladies who reached the finals are 1st Runner-Up Hiwot Mamo of Ethiopia, 2nd Runner-Up Kathryn Kohut of Canada, 3rd Runner-Up Renera Thompson of Australia and 4th Runner-Up Monica Castano Agudelo of Colombia.
The five special awards given at pageant are:
- Best in National Costume : Cao Linh from Vietnam
- Best in Swimsuit: Parapadsorn Disdamrong from Thailand
- Best in Evening Gown : Margenie Winarti from Indonesia
- Best in Social Media: Mieko Takeuchi from Japan
- Miss Popular Vote: Tim Sreyneat

Congratulations to all the winners and may they embody the mission of Miss Grand’s campaign “Stop The War.” The winner receives USD 40,000 in cash and will live in Bangkok, Thailand, for a year. The winner will visit over 10 countries to promote Miss Grand’s campaign “Stop The War.”
