‘Dance Moms’ Cast Update: Maddie Ziegler Is a Bookworm!

Maddie Ziegler is more than just Abby Lee Miller’s favorite, a “Dance Moms” star, Sia’s muse and a dance phenomenon. She recently revealed to Us Weekly her love for certain books, as well as stories she longed to read. Read on for details.

First on the list is Ellen Raskin’s “The Westing Game.” Ziegler admitted liking murder mysteries. She explained that Raskin’s novel is similar to “Clue.” She proudly said that she only had 10 chapters left.

Ziegler revealed that she is a fan of Bella Thorne. She wanted to read “Autumn Falls” because it is about Thorne’s life.

The young dancer once revealed that she is a big fan of “The Hunger Games” movie series. Now, she planned to read the rest of Suzanne Collins’ novels. She said she still needed to read the second and third books. She also longed to read John Green’s “The Fault in Our Stars” after watching the film adaptation “800 times.” Same goes to Veronica Roth’s “Divergent.”

“I’m really bad about reading the books after the movies,” Ziegler said.

Considering Green’s book “a little too mature,” Ziegler still had an eye for children’s stories. Barbara Park’s “Junie B. Jones” series was one of the favorites by Ziegler. She also enjoyed Sarah Mlynowski’s “Whatever After,” which was an “easy read” fairy tale series.

The talented sixth grader also had a thing for inspirational stories. R.J. Palacio’s award-winning book “Wonder” is about a child with a deformed face. Ziegler wanted to read the character’s sad journey. On the other hand, Rodman Philbrick’s “Freak the Mighty” was just an assigned reading for Ziegler. However, Ziegler learned to love the book about two disabled kids.

“Now it’s my favorite book ever!” Ziegler told Us Weekly.

As expected, Ziegler would love any book about dance. Misty Copeland’s “Life in Motion” is about a ballerina’s autobiography. Ziegler knew she could relate to it. Coincidentally, there is also a book about a reality stars. Carl Hiaasen’s “Chomp” focuses on a family’s life as stars in a reality series. Ziegler explained that it was recommended to her by a friend and laughed about the certainty that she could relate to it.

“Dance Moms” Season 5 airs every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. on Lifetime.
