Till date, 24 movies have been made on this fictional hero and seven actors were seen in the get-up of agent 007 namely Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.
Figures collected by the The Grocer magazine revealed the number of units consumed by each of them who played Agent 007. The first Bond means Connery, who was seen in six films in total, consumed about 11 units of alcohol in a film. Lazenby who was seen in only one movie titled “Her Majesty’s Secret Service” (1969), took only nine units. Moore, who is on top for playing the Bond character in seven movies, had consumed around 11 units per film. With two Bond films and consumption of four to five units a film, the “The Living Daylights” and “Licence to Kill” Bond Dalton is the most sober one as far as the alcohol consumption is concerned. Brosnan is famous for taking 12 units per film and after him came the latest Bond Craig who rose the number of units directly to 20.
The Grocer’s Rob Brown who is behind the compilation of the boozing figures stated, “We can exclusively reveal that Daniel Craig is by far the booziest Bond the world has ever seen, having knocked back an average of 20 units of alcohol per film since his debut in 2006’s Casino Royale.” It was also said that sponsors are the reason behind the increase of alcohol intake by Agent 007 because they want to promote their beverage through the most popular and powerful franchise of the world, the Bond films.
“A partnership with 007 can pay big for brands, as booze brands as diverse as Bollinger, Jim Beam, Red Stripe and Heineken will attest. Belvedere’s decision to jump into bed with Bond is a landmark moment for the brand,’ said Brown.
