In this episode, in the aftermath of the bombing of Hell’s Kitchen, Matthew “Matt” Murdock (Charlie Cox) found himself trapped inside a warehouse as he tried to get information out of Vladimir Ranskahov (Nikolai Nikolaeff ) before Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) played his hand against him. Read on to learn more about this episode.
This episode picked up from where the last episode left off. After the police officers ordered Matthew “Matt” Murdock (Charlie Cox) to freeze, he let them cuff him. After the police began to shoot at Vladimir Ranskahov (Nikolai Nikolaeff) and Sergei (David Vadim), he realized that the police were under Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) payroll, and fought them off. Afterwards, he took off with Vladimir, and brought him to an abandoned warehouse.
At the New York Bulletin office, Ben Urich (Vondie Curtis-Hall) was interrupted in his thoughts as reports came in that the entire Hell’s Kitchen had been bombed. After learning the locations of the areas that had exploded, Ben left as he realized that these locations were all controlled by the Russians.
Inside a black SUV, after learning that Vladimir was in the wind and was with the man in the mask, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), became annoyed as he had disappointed Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho). However, James Wesley (Toby Leonard Moore) that the pair wouldn’t be able to make it out alive that night, as their cops had orders to find and eliminate them, as they knew that the vigilante would try to get information out of Vladimir.
Meanwhile, after Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) brought Mrs. Elena Cardenas (Judith Delgado) to the Emergency Room where she was treated by Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Karen called a doctor as Foggy was bleeding. While she was gone, Foggy tried to call Matt up.
At the warehouse, Matt informed Vladimir that he had been played by Fisk, whom he wanted to get back at, just as much as Vladimir did. However, after Vladimir passed out as he was bleeding out, Matt called Claire for help, whom he reassured that he was fine, and that he didn’t cause the explosions. Claire was hesitant to help her kidnapper, but later on instructed Matt to use a road flare in an old first aid kit to cauterize the wound. However, Vladimir’s screams of pain attracted the attention of a young officer, Officer Sullivan (Matthew Blumm), who, after being knocked down by Matt, decided to play the hero and called for back up, which forced Matt to tie him up.
Outside, Ben Urich came and hung around the scene, as corrupt cops Detective Blake (Chris Tardio) and Detective Hoffman (Daryl Edwards) came to take charge of the scene. Wesley then informed Fisk that Urich’s presence was a problem because on wrong move on their part would alert Urich to their own presence. Fisk then told Wesley to utilize all of their connections in the media to document the entire thing so that they could paint the vigilante as a villain.
Inside the warehouse, Vladimir wondered if Matt was really any different form him and Fisk, and told him that he would get there soon enough. He then told Matt that they had been invited to join something big, as long as they agreed to help the Chinese distribute their heroin and told him that he knew the name of Fisk’s accountant. He then took Matt by surprise by fighting him off, which caused them to fall through the floor to a lower level.
At the hospital, Foggy and Karen became increasingly worried that they couldn’t get ahold of Matt.
Meanwhile, Matt managed to get up, and brought Vladimir back to life after his heart stopped beating. Matt then discovered that there was a way for them to escape, down the sewer, and began to try to open the hatch, when Fisk called him up on Sullivan’s radio. He then told him that he respected Matt’s conviction as the lone man who would change the city and told him that his ideology was dangerous. As Matt refused to kill Vladimir, Fisk told his sniper to shoot at Blake and two other cops, to make it look like that Matt was shooting at them, and had the media play footage from earlier that night when he fought off the cops, which made him the prime suspect in the bombings.
Matt then called up Claire to tell her that he didn’t do it, and bid her farewell. He was then helped by Vladimir to lift up the hatch, so that they could escape to the access tunnels below. After fighting off some officers together, Vladimir told Matt to look for Leland Owlsley (Bob Gunton), and told him to go, as he knew that he was going to die. As Matt walked through the other access tunnels, gunshots rang out where Vladimir was.
