Dark Souls 3 News: From Software Plans to Release Game’s VR Version Soon
Dark Souls 3 has cost countless gamers to sacrifice their time, effort, money and soul to the game. Now, a more diabolical plan is afoot and this time, involving virtual reality. In a recent live stream interview, producer Atsuo Yoshimura teased that the game will be coming to VR.
The fourth installation in the Souls series, Dark Souls 3, rolled out in Japan in March 2016. Then, it had its worldwide release in April. It quickly became Bandai Namco’s fastest selling game. It has over three million copies sold in just two months. It also earned rave reviews from critics and gamers.
One thing that set the game apart from other RPGs was its difficulty. It is no secret that it became one of the hardest and most challenging titles around. That factor has added to its charm and popularity. Now players might be experiencing that challenge in a virtual reality environment.
Dark Souls 3 Meets Virtual Reality
A recent Shack News report stated Yoshimura and his band of merry game developers are thinking of bringing the game to virtual reality. The revelation was made during last week’s pre-show live stream of the Golden Joystick Awards. In response to the question of whether fans will be seeing the game in VR, the prolific producer answered in the affirmative.
Yoshimura also added that he and the rest of From Software development team are “hoping” to produce a VR version of the popular game. The news undoubtedly had Dark Souls fans imagining what the game would look in VR. After all, with the way the technology is developing, it is inevitable that games would soon find its way into virtual reality.
It should be emphasized though that Yoshimura’s statement should not be considered as Bandai Namco’s official stand on the issue. Gamers should also consider the possibility that the idea might work better as a demo and not as a real game. However, there is no question that Yoshimura and his team will do everything they can to incorporate VR into Dark Souls 3.
