Dascha Polanco of ‘Orange is the New Black’ Charged With Assault?
Actress Dascha Polanco of “Orange is the New Black” (OITNB) fame has been accused of charges of assaulting a teenage girl and also for a summer incident. She has been charged with scratching and punching the girl.
Polanco was summoned to the Manhattan Criminal Court last Thursday.
The office of the district attorney has filed court papers against Polanco. The documents claim that that on July 29, there was an attack on Michelle Cardona, a 17-year-old teenage girl right outside the actress’ upper Manhattan apartment.
Polanco was apparently spotted punching the girl many times and even scratched her and pulled her hair hard.
ABC News could manage to get hold of copies of the court documents where Cardona has claimed that Polanco was physical with her. This incident took place when the girl was hanging around outside the actress’s apartment on July 29 this year.
Dascha Polanco has been charged for scratching the girl. It seems that the actress had punched Cardona in the head for a number of times. She also used her nails to scratch the arms of the teen and even tugged at her hair.
However, Gerald Lefcourt, the attorney who is representing Polanco in this case, said that this was simply a means for extorting money from his client. The attorney also claimed that he was sure of dismissal of all charges against his client.
Polanco, 33 plays the character of Dayonara Diaz on the Netflix hit prison drama but is now facing four different charges of harassment, attempted assault, and assault. The actress will also appear in a film titled “Joy” by Jennifer Lawrence.
According to ABC News, her attorney said that she is yet to enter a plea.
Polanco’s next real life appearance in the court is scheduled on January 28, 2016.
Dascha Polanco had uploaded a photo on Instagram in the midst of all these controversies involving her, where she also wrote that she is a warrior and the truth would definitely come out.
