Shazam, or earlier known as Captain Marvel, is a superhero which originated from DC Comics. When young Billy Batson utters the word “SHAZAM!,” he is immediately struck by a magical thunderbolt, transforming him into a superpowered adult hero Captain Marvel/Shazam, the Champion of Magic empowered by the powers of six Elders, each representing a letter of the magical words:
S for Solomon, granting him Solomon’s wisdom.
H for Hercules, granting him Herculean strength.
A for Atlas, granting him the stamina of Atlas, the Titan who bears the heavens on his shoulders.
Z for Zeus, the God of Thunder, giving him the ability to command lightning and other magical prowess.
A for Achilles, granting him the courage and bravado of the greatest hero of the Trojan War, Achilles.
M for Mercury, swiftest of the gods, granting him godlike speed and his power to fly.
Meanwhile, Johnson’s character, Black Adam is a villain turned anti-hero who served with JSA (Justice Society of America), who, at first, played antagonist to Shazam. Black Adam is an ancient force, born to the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II. Supposedly, he was to chosen to be the first Shazam, until the intervention of the half-demonic Blaze. When uttering the words “SHAZAM!,” Adam is instead empowered by:
Shu, giving him stamina and invulnerability
Heru or Horus, giving him flight and speed
Amon, providing him super strength
Zehutti, or Thoth, giving him access to godly level of knowledge, magical and mundane
Aton, providing the magic lightning that transforms Adam
Mehen, giving him courage and godly degree of inner strength
Hiram Garcia will be producing the "Shazam" pic from a script written by Darren Lemke who has worked with films such as “Jack the Giant Slayer” and “Shrek Forever After.” “Shazam” is set to hit theaters on 2019.
