‘Defiance’ Shut Down After Season 3
The sci-fi series “Defiance” is reportedly cancelled after Season 3 as announced by Syfy. The Grant Bowler and Julie Benz starrer series is already concluded with the finale in August and is not going to renew for another season. It is said that the show started with good rating at the first but declined in the later seasons, still the series gained sufficient rating but has to be shut down due to financial decision. According to The Wrap, the showrunner Kevin Murphy stated that the show has a wonderful cast who have played their best at the series throughout. He further stated that he is filled with joy at heart.
“Defiance” is all about an imaginatively transformed planet Earth where the landscapes change due to the arrival of several alien races. The series was groundbreaking and something which was never experienced by viewers, stated by Syfy. The channel further mentioned that, it was an immense pleasure to work with such diversifying cast, crew and Murphy who created the world of “Defiance” for three seasons.
It is said that “Defiance” was a huge financial investment and a different content experiment for the channel. The season one started with more than average ratings but then slide down with season 2 and 3.
The series “Defiance” was created in collaboration with Trion Worlds as a union of television and online gaming streams. It seems that Syfy is not going through its best period as it has recently cancelled another series “Dominion” after Season 2 also.
