Director Ava DuVernay Leaves ‘The Black Panther’
MARVEL, in recent years, has been able to release a slew of superhero movies, which solidified its footing in Hollywood, and has managed to draw more fans into its universe, with films and franchises starring “The Avengers,” “Iron Man,” “Captain America” and “Thor.” However, MARVEL currently has a line –up of movies stretching all the way into 2018, which include a live action film centering around the ruler of Wakanda, the scientific minded ruler T’Challa, who is also known as the superhero called “The Black Panther.” The film is currently in development, but before anything else, aside from its star, the movie still has to find its director, because, according to the official website of Essence Magazine, the director rumored to be attached to the film is no longer going to be directing it. Read on to learn more about this story.
T’Challa, the ruler of Wakanda, a superb scientist, and the superhero known as The Black Panther, will be getting his own live-action film. It is slated to be released on Nov. 3, 2017. As of today, MARVEL has already found it’s T’Challa in actor Chadwick Boseman. However, the film is still on the lookout for a director to helm the project, as director Ava DuVernay, according to Essence Magazine, has left the film.
According to an interview with her last weekend, during the Essence Festival, DuVernay explained the reason for her departure.
She told Essence that she had loved meeting with the MARVEL executives, and Chadwick Boseman, and is thrilled that a fictional nation from Africa will be shown. But when it came down to MARVEL’s vision for the film, DuVernay’s vision was different from theirs. Because of this, she cited “creative differences” as the reason for her departure. She also told the magazine that she believed that leaving the film in its development stages was the best thing to do, instead of leaving later on when things are more developed with the film.
However, she wished MARVEL and Boseman good luck for the rest of the development of the film.
