Director Francis Lawrence Suggests Prequel Of ‘The Hunger Games’ Without Jennifer Lawrence
With the release of “Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” it became clear that Katniss Everdeen accomplished her mission. But director Francis Lawrence, in a recent update, revealed that there are more tales to be told, this is not yet done. Lawrence hinted on making a prequel that goes back to the past, almost 75 years back. According to Entertainment Weekly, director Francis Lawrence would like to be a part of “Hunger Games” prequel. He stated that, he is more interested in getting to a plot that defines how exactly things became this way and it goes back to the past, almost 75 years ago.
He further mentioned that, there is a possibility of finding a suitable story by the author of The Hunger Games trilogy Suzanne Collins and also that he would be interested to be a part of that too. Lawrence noted that the story could be in the world of Panem and with new characters which were together led the story towards “Mockingjay Part 1.”
As per the 44-year-old director, there will be no scope for Katniss Everdeen aka Jennifer Lawrence in the prequel as her fate is decided with the “Mockingjay – Part 2” and she could not reprise herself in a role that is dated 75 years back in the past. So yes, Jennifer Lawrence for sure will not be part of prequel if it is done.
Francis Lawrence, who has been a core part of “The Hunger Games” series and has directed three flicks of the franchise, is open to the idea of a prequel which seems promising. Also, there is an opportunity for a new actress to get featured in the franchise, however, the idea is just proposed and will definitely take time to get into a proper shape.
