Disney to Release Animated Film ‘Moana’ Before ‘Frozen 2’ Hits Theatres
Disney really has a lot of films slated for its fans as another animated musical movie is bound to hit the theaterss in 2016. “Moana” tells the tale of a teenager who sets on a mission to fulfill her ancestors’ failed quest. The movie is set to premiere before “Frozen 2” hits theaters. Read on to learn more about this scoop.
“Frozen 2” will not be released anytime sooner and while fans are already anticipating for the sequel to hit the theatres, fans may treat themselves to another heartwarming story in “Moana,” the new Disney animated movie.
According to Rotoscopers, the movie tells the tale of a “spirited teenager” who travels across the South Pacific in hopes of proving herself as a master wayfinder and fulfilling an unfinished quest. Moana will also chance upon the demigod named Maui, who will set sail with her. Together, Moana and Maui will encounter “enormous fiery creatures and impossible odds” as they discover things about themselves and, more importantly, develop friendship between each other.
Movie Pilot cited Moana as the next Disney princess next to Queen Elsa and Princess Anna in “Frozen.” This may also be an interesting addition to the Disney characters. Moana has a tan complexion, pretty much different from the other Disney princesses who had fair complexions. This may also be Disney’s take on the public’s growing support for ethnicity and equality, following the successful release of the 2009 film “The Princess and the Frog.” Tiana took the lead in the classic story, and she was eventually hailed as Disney’s first African-American princess.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be the voice behind demigod Maui. “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin” directors, John Musker and Ron Clements will be helming the animated movie. The voice behind Moana has not yet been announced.
“Moana” will be released in cinemas on Nov. 23, 2016. Stay tuned on Movie News Guide (MNG) for more updates on your favorite TV shows, celebrities and movies.
