Disney’s Girl Meets World Will Be Back for Season 2
Every child of the ‘90s, more often than not, has grown up with Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence in Disney’s television series, “Boy Meets World.” Fans of the television show rejoiced when Disney announced that it would be creating a spinoff sequel, “Girl Meets World,” set more than ten years later, focusing on Cory and Topanga’s daughter. Variety has reported that Disney renewed “Girl Meets World” for a second season. ” The ‘90s hit spinoff is set more than ten years after the ending of “Boy Meets World” and follows Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), Cory and Topanga’s tween daughter, as she makes her way through life and middle school. She is joined by her best friend Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) in her misadventures.
According to Variety, Adam Bonnet, executive vice president of the original programming of Disney Channels Worldwide, has said that the reason why “Girl Meets World” was a quick favorite was because both kids and their parents watch it. The kids watch it, as it is a show that appeals to them, and the parents watch it because, more often than not, they grew up watching Cory Matthews on the original television series, “Boy Meets World.”
The television series is currently on its first season, with only five episodes under its belt. The series had its premiere on June 27, 2014 and will have twenty-two episodes in its first season. Production for its second season is said to begin in November.
