Ditch the Conversation: Movies to Watch This Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving night is all about family gossip, but if you don’t enjoy it, there’s always the TV dinner or the movie theater to chill out with. Whatever your style, you can have a rollicking good time with these new movies this thanksgiving.
The first movie we recommend is the new sequel in the “Rocky” franchise, “Creed.” USA Today writes that “Creed’ is packed with powered up performances by the original “Rocky Balboa,” Sylvester Stallone, and the young actor, “Michael B Jordan.” The movie is getting rave reviews for its slick camerawork and gritty scene captures of Philly’s ghetto streets. You can’t go wrong with this one. It’s got 94% Fresh Tomato rating on RottenTomatoes.com.
The second movie we recommend is “Brooklyn.” This is a coming of age drama of a young Irish woman finding new life and love in America. This movie has a pretty solid word of mouth, too. And if you got a girlfriend or are actually a girl, this movie should make you really happy. But we hear that men are loving the plain and mystical look of the leading lady, Saoirse Ronan, who, we hear shines in every scene. Also, look out for Oscars next year. This one sounds like it’s going to kill at the Oscars.
The third movie we recommend is “The Room.” This drama is all about wringing out your heart but ultimately, has a nice uplifting ending. Director Lenny Abrahamson drama tells the story of a mother and her five-year-old son trapped in a single room by a man named Old Nick.
The fourth film we recommend is “Spectre.” Why? Because it is James Bond, guys! If the story sucked or the plot didn’t work, we get to at least enjoy the advanced weaponry and the fight scenes. The reviewers at Vulture say that the ending is complicated and the whole film is somewhat of a confusing mess, but we want to know what Bond is up to and ogle at his new “girls.”
