‘Divergent: Allegiant’ Movie Update: Bill Skarsgard and Jeff Daniels to Join Theo James and Shailene Woodley

“Divergent: Allegiant” movie is gearing up for a 2016 release for the first of the two-part finale. Bill Skarsgard and Jeff Daniels are rumored to be joining Theo James and Shailene Woodley in the “Divergent” movie sequel. Which roles are they playing? Read on to learn more about this scoop.

The “Allegiant” movie will be seeing the addition of two new stars, Bill Skarsgard and Jeff Daniels. The two actors are still in negotiations to join the final installment to the “Divergent” franchise, The Wrap reported.

According to the outlet, Skarsgard, who is well known for his role as Roman Godfrey in the Netflix series, “Hemlock Grove,” is rumored to play alongside Jeff Daniels. Skarsgard has previously starred in “Anna Karenina,” “Emperor,” and “Battlecreek.”

Daniels, on the other hand, will play David, the leader of the Bureau of Genetic Welfare, which was responsible for the post-apocalyptic faction-based society. Daniels will star in the Steve Jobs biopic as Apple CEO John Sculley, which opens in Oct. 9, Variety reported.

Empire Online stated that in the final installment to the movie based on Veronica Roth’s series, Tris (Shailene Woodley) will be decoding the mystery behind the creation of the factions, as she eventually learns that the Bureau does not necessarily hold everyone’s best interests at heart. This is where Daniels and possibly Skarsgard’s characters may come into the picture and their respective roles are expected to appear in “Allegiant” movie parts one and two.

The “Divergent” and “Insurgent” films have already earned over $550 million worldwide, having grossed $338 million and $271 million respectively.

Theo James will be reprising his role as Four and will play alongside Ansel Elgort. Noah Oppenheim will be writing the script while Douglas Wick, Pouya Shahbazian and Lucy Fisher will be producing “Divergent: Allegiant Part 1.”

Robert Schwentke will be back as the director of the movie and will begin shooting in May.

Part One of the two-part “Divergent: Allegiant” will be released in theatres on March 18, 2016 while “Allegiant – Part 2” will be released a year after. Part 2 has already received a lot of controversy over its tragic ending, wherein Tris dies at the end. As previously reported, fans have begun signing petitions in an attempt to see a better ending to the “Divergent” series.
