‘Divergent Series’ Update: Allegiant Will Not Deviate From The Original Book Ending
The upcoming American science fiction “Allegiant Part 1” has been slated to release on March 18, 2016. Though it is based on Veronica Roth’s novel ‘Allegiant’, there were widespread rumors about the movie to bear a different ending. Shailene Woodley puts an end to all speculations and reveals that the movie would stick to the ending of the novel. Read on to get the complete scoop.
This piece of news might be disappointing for some, but there’s no escaping it. Shailene Woodley, 23, playing Tris in “Allegiant-Part 1,” confirms in a recent interview that the franchise has decided not to meddle with the ending of the novel in its adaptation as a feature film.
The ending of the novel has been considered to be bittersweet by readers, and not really aligned with their expectations. Thus, the “Divergent” franchise has considered a ‘find and replace’ action for the ending, to make it more palatable for the viewers. But, now it looks like they have opted for an ‘undo’.
Shailene told Digital Spy that the ending scribed in the novel by Veronica is absolutely apt in terms of the idea that it deals with, and the struggles of Tris and Tobias.
She seemed glad and said, “I think that it’s a beautiful decision that Veronica made. I mean, how often is it that somebody you really admire and who does take selfless risks every day ends up living?”
The theme revolves around a ruined Chicago in the future that becomes a society, which eliminates independent thinking, and makes it mandatory for the citizens to conform to their social and personality related affiliations with five different factions.
The film will show a rich star cast featuring Shailene Woodley as Tris, Theo James as Tobias, Naomi Watts as Evelyn and Jeff Daniels playing David.
