‘Doctor Strange’ Update: Rachel McAdams Joins Cast as ‘Doctor Strange’ Leading Lady
Since the end of the Second Phase of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe, all the way to when the first installment of the Third Phase premieres, the Third Phase of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe has been and will continue to be the talk of the town, especially with regards to the upcoming films “Doctor Strange” and “Captain Marvel.” However, developments for the “Doctor Strange” movie are moving lightning fast, especially as it has just been confirmed and reported that “True Detective” and “The Notebook” star Rachel McAdams has officially joined the MARVEL Universe with a prominent role in MARVEL’s “Doctor Strange.” Read on to learn more about Rachel McAdams’ part in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe.
Last Monday, while speaking to McAdams at the Toronto Film Festival, The Wrap confirmed that the “True Detective” actress will be part of MARVEL’s “Doctor Strange.” She will be portraying the leading lady to the titular character, who will be portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch. This was later on confirmed by Entertainment Weekly at the same event.
However, it has not yet been confirmed as to who exactly she will be playing. The details regarding her character, in usual MARVEL fashion, is being kept under wraps for now.
According to Screen Rant, there are two possible characters that the “Midnight in Paris” and “Mean Girls” actress could portray.
One of the characters whom McAdams could be portraying is the sorceress Clea, who, at times is Doctor Stephen Strange’s lover, and at times, his wife.
McAdams being Clea would make sense if actor Mads Mikkelsen, who is currently being wooed to join the film in a villainous role, would be portraying Clea’s uncle, Dormammu, one of Doctor Strange’s biggest foes.
Another character whom McAdams could portray, according to Screen Rant, is Morgana Blessing, who at times is his ally, and at times, his enemy. However, her character has been a longtime love interest for the Sorcerer Supreme. This character would also make sense in the film, as Blessing is connected to Baron Mordo, Strange’s biggest nemesis, who will be portrayed by actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.
