DOCTOR WHO SEASON 10: WHO WILL BE THE NEXT COMPANION OF THE TIME LORD? DEPARTING JENNA COLEMAN THOUGH HOPES TO COME BACK!
The impending departure of Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) in Season 9 of “Doctor Who” has already caused quite a stir on the enthusiasts of the long-running BBC science fiction program. The 29-year-old English actress’ appearance is down to just three episodes as the “companion” to the Twelfth Doctor portrayed by Peter Capaldi.
In a report from Digital Spy, Steven Moffatt, the mastermind of the cult-tv show has assured “Time Lord” fans that the character of the next “companion.” It was albeit still in the very early stages has by this time been pitched to BBC accompanied by the story arc of Season 10 of “Doctor Who.”
Moffatt also ruled out the possibility of having a past character be the new companion therefore completing rubbing out the return of Ashildre (Maisie Williams) and Osgood (Ingrid Oliver).
The 53-year-old screenwriter elucidated that casting the companion isn’t a trivial matter. As the tone of “Doctor Who,” has always been noted to be driven by the so-called “companion” and a new cast member will mean “starting a new story.”
However, the arrival of the next travelling companion of our dear “Doctor” in his adventures may come at a stiff price for the “Time Lord.”
“It’s going to be pretty bad this time,” Moffat gave an ominous revelation on the departure of Coleman’s character.
He added: “It’s gonna knock the Doctor for six.”
Screen Rant added more fuel to the fire as it cited that viewers will look ahead to the final three episodes of being a “cliffhanger into each other in quite a major way,” which will paved the way for the epic season closing.
The final episode entitled “Hell Bent” will have the Doctor in an unwelcome homecoming in his planet, Gallifrey in which he will have a direct confrontation with the other Time Lords.
Coleman, who has portrayed Clara Oswald since Series 7 in 2012, recently made it known via Metro that she would really love to come back after her exit.
‘I think it would depend on the story. I think Steven [Moffat] is very clever about that,” she said even though her removal from the show wasn’t the route she expected it to be.
