‘Downton Abbey’ May Have a Film Adaptation

It’s official, the Crawleys are signing off after its 6th season. So it has been announced via “Downton Abbey’s” Twitter page. Read below for more details.

“Downton Abbey” fans, it’s really the end of the show. The tweet says, “The time has come to announce that Series 6 wil be our final visit to #Downton. Thank you for sharing our journey!”

Season 6 will premiere in England this fall but it will premiere in the US next year (2016). According to Gareth Neame, executive producer of the show, the whole cast and crew of the show shares the mutual decision regarding the end of the show and everyone seems to be happy and satisfied. He also made it clear that the end of the show doesn’t have anything to do with TV ratings.

“Our feeling is it’s good to quit while we’re ahead. The show is incredibly strong shape… the danger is to let it go on forever… eight, nine, 10 years. We wanted to end when the time is right, so that people will love it for years to come and not feel there’s a drop-off, and we’ve not outstayed our welcome,” he said.

But wait, there’s more because this may not be just the end for “Downton Abbey” because there’s a possibility that the show will have a film adaptation!

Neame said, “It’s something we’re contemplating, it would be great fun to do. I can’t confirm it’s definitely going to happen but we shall see. If we can get all our ducks in a row…”
