‘Downton Abbey’ Season 6 News: Premiere Date Announced Plus Spoilers

Finally, some news about “Downton Abbey!” Fans of the PBS hit British drama can now encircle a date on their calendars as Paula Kerger of PBS has finally announced the premiere of “Downton Abbey” Season 6. Read on for more details.

During the Television Critic’s Association Summer press tour (TCA), Kerger confirmed that “Downton Abbey” Season 6 will premiere on January 3, 2016.

What can you expect on the 6th season of “Downton Abbey?” We have some spoilers to share with you as well!

According to Christian Post,  “Downton Abbey” Season 6 spoilers reveal that the wedding of Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes will finally happen. Of course, you can also expect a lot of heated bickering between Isobel and Lady Violet and this time, they are going to fight about the hospital. What’s new, right? These two always bicker! It’s entertaining.

Talks about a spin-off have been going around for a while now because this is the last season of “Downton Abbey.” According to executive producer Gareth Neame, “I can’t guarantee it’s even going to happen. Julian and I would be very happy to do it if that opportunity comes along. Now that we’re at the beginning of the end of the TV show, we can start to think about it.”

There are also talks about a “Downton Abbey” movie that I reported here.

“If we had gone to Season 7 and or 8 we would have taken it that much further. There’s speculation about whether we’ll ever make a Downton movie, we might, but there are no firm plans. But it means there’s a lot of rich territory.” Julian Fellowes said.

So far, no concrete plans for what’s to come once “Downton Abbey” wraps up for good. Do you want to see a spinoff series? Or a movie? Let us know by posting your comments below!
