‘Dreadstar’ Coming to Television

Another Marvel comics superhero is hitting your TV screens soon.

Universal Cable Productions and Benderspink have just announced that they are working together with Jim Starlin, the comic book artist and creator of “Dreadstar.”

Vanth Dreadstar, an ‘80’s Marvel superhero is the only survivor of the entire Milky Way galaxy and he’s on a journey to end a war between two empired: the Church of the Instrumentality by the Lord Papal and the Monarchy by King Gregzor together with his crew, which includes cyborg sorcerer Syzygy Darklock.

According to Dawn Olmstead, executive VP of development at UCP, “Jim Starlin’s cosmic space opera is a great read, and it’s time for Vanth Dreadstar to make his television debut.”

Starlin is more than pleased with his decision to collaborate with Universal Cable Productions and Benderspink. In fact, the creator considers “‘Dreadstar’ to be an extension of my family” and he admitted that it took him quite some time before he let anyone shed light into it and air it on TV. He is very much at ease with the team he’s working with and he’s very excited to start production.

Starlin has also worked for other comic book characters such as “Batman,” “The Avengers,” “Iron Man” and “Justice League.”

There are plenty of Marvel superheroes out there and it’s pretty great that this particular superhero will be brought to life through television. Also, to consider the success of such series such as “Gotham,” which is airing now, there’s no wonder that there’s another Marvel superhero series about to come to life.
