Ed Helms to Produce Julian McCullough’s ‘Poor House’

“Poor House” is  family comedy based on the life of a well-known comedian is making its way towards NBC and will be produced by another comedian- Ed Helms. Read on to learn more about this story.

According to Deadline, the newest NBC comedy, entitled “Poor House”, will be produced by comedian Ed Helms and his group, Pacific Electric Company. It will also be produced by Universal TV as Ed Helms’ company has gotten a first-look deal with them.


Ed Helms is known for his roles in television shows and movies such as Stu in “The Hangover I, II and III” (2009, 2011 and 2013 respectively), Andy Bernard in “The Office” (2oo6 to 2013) and the voice of The Once-ler in “The Lorax” (2012). He is also a producer and is known for producing several episodes of “The Office” from 2012 t0 2013, and “Tiny Commando” in 2013.

“Poor House” is written and created by Julian McCullough, who will also star in the series. McCullough is a comedian, actor and writer, whose credits include “Chelsea Lately” (2007), “Supermodel Moving Company” (2010), “Whitney” (2012), and “Love You, Mean It with Whitney Cummings” (2012). The series is based on his own life.

According to Deadline, “Poor House” tells the story of a free-spirited father who used wander around America, but never thought of settling down in one place. However, he finally decides to settle down after he decides to give his teenage son a normal life as a highschooler. Helm’s character and his onscreen son ended up living with two other social class misfits in a rundown house located in a wealthy area.

The series’s showrunner will be Mike Pennie, who has produced comedies such as “Yes, Dear” (2005 to 2006), “My Name is Earl” (2007 to 2009), and “Raising Hope” (2011 to 2012).

Mike Pennie will executive produce the series alongside McCullough, Helms and Mike Falbo.

This is not Ed Helms’ first project with NBC, as his Pacific Electric Company is also producing the comedy “Big Kids”.
