Efron both Excited and Uncomfortable About Movie Role
Zac Efron is exposing skin in his next movie, lots of it as a matter of fact. The film, The Paperboy, just debuted this week in France at the Cannes Film Festival. Singer Macy Gray said, “Zac is running around in his underwear the majority of the time.”
Gray plays a maid in the movie and is the narrator. The movie also stars the beautiful Nicole Kidman, as what a reviewer in Cannes called, an oversexed version of Barbie.
Lee Daniels from Precious fame is the movie’s director. The movie takes place in 1969 in Florida during racial tension. Efron plays Jack, a 20-year old younger brother of journalist Matthew McConaughey, who returns to the small town where he grew up to investigate if a man was unjustly condemned to die on death row. The character Kidman portrays is fixated on the condemned inmate.
In one scene early in the movie, Kidman rips off her pantyhose and proceeds to have an orgasm when visiting the death row inmate played by John Cusack. In another scene, her character is seen urinating on Efron at the beach after he is stung by a jellyfish.
Kidman said she did not have any reservations about her scenes. She said she tried to act as her character throughout the filming so she would not have time to consider what she was actually shooting. Efron said the movie succeeded in stretching him to his limits as an actor.
He said that since he loves everything he has done thus far it has been a new frontier for him.
