“Elementary” Season 2 Episode 22 “Paint It Black” Recap:
“Elementary” Season 2 Episode 22 “Paint It Black” (air date: May 1, 2014) began with the disappearance of Joan Watson (Lucy Liu).
Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) cannot go into the investigations without Watson. He had to do some desperate measure if he wanted to get his partner back alive. He got no other choice but to let his sketchy brother help in the in the investigations.
Mycroft (Rhys Ifans) learned about Joan’s abductions from a phone call. He confessed to Sherlock that he had been dealing with mobsters to use the restaurant. He said that it was due to the hospital bills he got when he was diagnosed with Leukemia. Little did Sherlock know that he was actually suggested to his French partners to expand their reach in the U.S.
Sherlock and Mycroft received another phone call and this time, it’s from the mobsters. They were tasked to find a certain Norman Pierce. He has been said to have acquired a list of the bank’s wealthiest clients and their bank accounts. The mobsters gave them a deadline of 48 hours in exchange of Joan’s freedom.
Elsewhere, Joan is still abducted, but she had been nursing an injured abductor. The Holmes siblings went to Pierce’s house to start off the case. A discarded handheld game hidden in a plant inside the office had led them to Pierce’s online boyfriend. They also found the current location of Pierce, who was buried in a shallow grave. Sherlock confirmed that he was already dead for more than a week and the list was missing. Based on the victim’s wound, they concluded that it was a work of a skilled companion of Pierce.
They went on to find Herr Yoder (Michael Gaston), the Swiss bank’s head of security. Yoder was immediately interrogated about the list after using a Taser gun on him. They found out about its location and called the NSA. A surprised Sherlock was then tased by Mycroft to get his hands on the list.
After some time, Mycroft went to the mobsters with Yoder inside the car trunk and the list. He was about to give the list when Joan’s captors had said that they would still kill them. Mycroft just uttered the cryptic phrase “Paint it black” and there goes a group of armed men who killed the mobsters.
