Emily Kapnek Sued Shortly After Signing a Huge Deal with Warner Brothers
Emily Kapnek, the writer and creator of multiple TV series and several shows including HBO’s ‘Hung’ is getting sued by the Gotham group for splitting just minutes after she struck a big deal with Warner Brothers. Reports have said that Kapnek bounced so she wouldn’t have to pay commission, TheWrap reported.
For a decade Emily had done all her work with pure loyalty according to Gotham, over the course of the 10 years she worked with them, she hired and fired multiple Hollywood agents, the group goes on to say that whatever Kapnek needed was seamlessly provided to her. Gotham group stated that they “have, without interruption, performed management services for Kapnek and her company Piece of Pie Productions.
“When Kapnek needed money, plaintiffs advanced it … when Kapnek needed emotional support, advice or assistance … plaintiffs provided it.”
Emily Kapnek took off two years after her show ‘Suburgatory’ was developed with Warner Brothers. Her lawsuit allges counts of breach of oral contract and fraud, seeks declaratory relief and seeks an undisclosed amount of both compensatory and punitive damages.
