According to Yibada, the total earnings of the movie so far is $26.5 million while in the U.S. it has raked in $7.1 million so far.

Opening weekend of “Everest” has attracted millions of viewers all over the world and with this amazing result, it is expected that it will climb the international box office rankings in the coming days.

“Everest” stars Jake Gylenhaal and Jason Clarke, which is a true-to-life disaster film, brought to us by Universal. The movie opened in 36 countries and it has already been hailed number one in 12 countries, specifically in Argentina, Mexico, Australia, Bulgaria, Taiwan, South Africa, Hungary and Mexico.

According to Forbes, the results of “Everest” will greatly affect “Black Mass” and “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.” Before the movie was released internationally, it was first aired at the Venice Film Festival on September 2, 2015 and in the Toronto Film Festival, wherein it got a critical acclaim. Meanwhile, the film has earned $890,000 so far in Australia, and it is number one since its opening on September 17, 2015 in cinemas. On the other hand, it ranked second in the U.K with $980,000 international gross next to Tom Hardy’s “Legend.”

“Everest” is based on the 1996 tragedy where 8 people died. The movie revolves around the struggle of the group to survive as they climb the summit of the highest mountain in the world – and also the deadliest.
