F1 Driver Jenson Button to be BBC Top Gear UK’s Next Host? Is The McLaren Driver Finished with Racing?
Last March, “Top Gear,” the top grossing and long running series from BBC, had suspended all its activities due to an issue with one of its host. The host in question is no one else but Jeremy Clarkson who was reprimanded and dismissed for hitting one of the shows producer, Oisin Tymon, for not bringing him hot food. This left the show with one big issue, who will fill in the big shoes of the well-renowned Clarkson?
Last June, BBC announced that Chris Evans, a TV and Radio personality, will be replacing Clarkson as the lead presenter for “Top Gear.” Not only that, with the show set to showcase a whole new team of presenters there are also talks about bringing Jenson Button, McLaren’s F1 Racing Driver, into the fold.
Adding the 2009 F1 World Champion in the new roster of hosts for the reboot of “Top Gear” would give BBC a chance to re-capture its audience. However, the 35-year old professional driver is currently committed to F1 making it seem impossible for him to host the show, as reported by RoadAndTrack.
Impossible things might seem, the doors are still wide open especially when earlier last July he said he would be “pretty happy” retiring from his F1 career given his achievements, as reported by IBTimes. Considering that the “Silly Season” of Formula One is upon us and Button’s less than spectacular performance when it comes to repeating his 2009 win, the hosting rumor for Top Gear is not too far off.
Do you think that Jenson Button would be a great addition to the Top Gear Reboot? Are you excited about the reboot altogether? Tell us your opinion on the matter by commenting below, we would love to hear from you.
