‘Fashion Police’ To Be Cancelled ‘Quietly’ After Kathy Griffin, Kelly Osbourne’s Exit
“Fashion Police” just might be cancelled “quietly,” following the departure of co-hosts Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne. As previously reported, the two hosts stepped down from the show following controversy after Giuliana Rancic’s alleged racist comments on Zendaya Coleman’s hair.
An E! insider shares exclusively to Radar Online that the producers felt that the “Fashion Police” was a “sinking ship” and that Rancic was the anchor.
“It is not a coincidence that all of the women who work with Guiliana quit,” the insider added.
The show’s drama started out during the post-Oscar Awards when co-host Rancic whipped a very controversial comment on Zendaya’s hair, jokingly saying “her hair smelled like patchouli oil… or weed.”
Although it was rumored that “Fashion Police” could be cancelled, E! execs recently announced that it would return on Monday, March 30 at 9pm. It was, however, unclear how long the “struggling” show would last, given that the execs had little patience left with the series.
Griffin’s exit, of course, did not help with the show’s decreasing popularity. In an interview with Chicago Sun Times, via Bustle, the host expressed criticism towards the show’s “mean spirited approach.” She added that viewers were more interested to hear about celebrity gossips than hear hosts criticize the clothes and bodies of their idols.
It was also reported that Osbourne was all praises with Griffin’s decision to leave “Fashion Police”. The host took to Twitter to express her support towards Griffin and tweeted, ” I could not be more proud of you @kathygriffin you have my love and support always.”
The two stars allegedly believed that it was better to quit the show while they were ahead.
