‘Fast and Furious 8’ Movie Update: Plots Related to Espionage? Kurt Russell Returns as New Saga is Set in New York
Fans of “Fast And Furious” have cause to celebrate as series star Vin Diesel recently let slip some teasers about the sequel to this years “Furious 7.” Diesel revealed “Fast and Furious 8” is going to feature the return of Kurt Russell. Read on to find out more.
Russell’s shady government agent character Mr. Nobody was well received in “Furious 7.” Well, ‘Snake Plissken’ fans have happy news as Vin Diesel has recently tweeted a photograph with Russell in his instagram account. Russell has previously said that fate of his character in “Furious 7” had been kept intentionally open-ended because Diesel apparently has big plans for ‘Mr. Nobody’ in the upcoming movies.
“I got an idea, a sense of what Vin maybe wants to do in the future that this character could be a good part of,” said Russell in the interview. “We created somebody that I think is, you know, he’s a mystery man, he’s ‘Mr. Nobody’ we never know his name and you never know quite what world he’s in and I think that’s what’s fun and exciting about it.”
This seems to suggest that the franchise will now take on plots related to espionage. Indeed, producer Neal Moritz has gone on record saying that the upcoming movie will be the beginning of a new trilogy. The screenplay for the eighth movie is currently under works, as Movie News Guide reported last week.
In an earlier appearance at Jimmy Kimmel, Diesel revealed the other big secret of “Fast and Furious 8” – the fact that it will be set in New York. It should be fun watching Toretto race at unbelievable speeds through the midtown Manhattan gridlock.
“Fast and Furious 8” hits theaters on April 15, 2017.
