‘Fast and Furious 8’ update: Justin Lin is Back as Director?

“Fast and Furious 8,” the eighth installment in the high-octane Vin Diesel led franchise and sequel to “Furious 7” has been the topic of discussion ever since Vin Diesel himself announced it. A little update here and there about the movie keeps on adding up as the movie promises to be another thrilling adventure just in line with its predecessors. The latest update about the movie concerns the director. Read on.

According to Christian Today, Vin Diesel has recently fuelled the rumors about the future of the film. In an Instagram post, Diesel said that Justin Lin, who is known for directing four movies in the franchise, might be returning back to direct the upcoming installment.

For “Furious 7,” Lin had passed on the directorial reigns to James Wan. The upcoming movie will be the first one to not feature Paul Walker and it feels bad to not see Brian who was one of the most important characters in the franchise.

However, Eva Mendes is said to be coming back to the franchise and her story will be the focus of the movie. Another actor who is reportedly joining the franchise is Dame Helen Mirren. The veteran actress expressed her desire to work in the franchise as the villain after having seen Vin Diesel’s performance. She revealed all of this in an interview with Seth Meyers. It was very kind of Diesel who responded by saying that he absolutely loves Mirren and would love to have her in the franchise.

In the last movie, fans saw Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), a rogue Special Forces assassin getting captured by Dom and his associates with the help of Agent Luke Hobbs. With Statham confirming his return in the upcoming eighth installment, it would be interesting to see what damage does he do this time around. Maybe the makers would explore more into the character’s history and show what makes him such a lethal adversary.
