“Fifty Shades Darker” will take on a thriller turn, as the sequel gears up for a 2017 release. In the recently released teaser clip, Jamie Dornan, who plays Christian Grey can be seen donning a tux and a mask. What else can fans expect in the upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie sequel? Read on to learn more about this scoop.
Fans of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” series written by E.L. James still have quite a long time to wait for the movie sequel, “Fifty Shades Darker,” to come into the big screen. Fans were, however, delighted to have seen a short teaser trailer of what they could expect to see next from Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).
Given that the title of the sequel is “Fifty Shades Darker,” it all makes sense for Universal Pictures to air the 30-second teaser trailer in full black and white. The clip also played a thrilling background music. It seemingly hinted that the FSOG sequel will take on a darker tone. Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and confirmed that the sequel will be “more of a thriller.”
Langley also brushed up on the rumors that James and Sam Taylor-Johnson were in conflict with each other, which caused the latter to resign from the position.
“For the record, the movie we ended up making is exactly the movie I wanted to make and that the studio wanted to make and that our director wanted to make,” she told the outlet.
Langley also announced that James’ husband, Niall Leonard will be penning for the sequel.
For those of you who have not yet read the book may wonder why this erotic movie will suddenly take on a thriller turn. “Fifty Shades Darker” will see the addition of two new characters, Elena Lincoln aka Mrs. Robinson and Christian Grey’s former submissive, Leila Williams. Elena will be causing quite a stir between Christian and Ana. On the other hand, she continues to warn Ana about Christian’s inner demons. Leila, on the other hand, will display jealousy, as she stalks and even points a gun at Ana when she notices that Christian is different with Ana.
Charlize Theron is rumored to play Elena Lincoln while fans are betting on Cara Delevingne to play Leila Williams. Neither the actresses nor the network has confirmed or denied the issues.
“Fifty Shades Darker” will be released in theatres on Feb. 19, 2017.
