‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Star Dakota Johnson Nails French, Aussie and Southern Accents Perfectly
Everyone now recognizes Dakota Johnson for her role in “Fifty Shades of Grey” and the upcoming “Fifty Shades Darker” as Anastasia Steele but maybe there’s more talent hidden to the actress than people are aware of. The actress was recently at “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” when she was asked about her role in “Black Mass” opposite Johnny Depp and how she pulled off the Boston accent in the movie followed by a scenario where she had to demonstrate different accents. Her demonstration was near perfect. Read on.
According to MTV News, Dakota was at the show talking about her movie and how she was cast opposite Johnny Depp as his character’s love interest and the mother of his child. The “Fifty Shades Darker” star was required to do an accent in the movie, particularly a Boston accent. It was since her character is from South Boston she had to convince everyone from New England that she was not messing around with the accent. The actress spoke about how she trained with a dialect coach for a while but for the rest part she eavesdropped.
The “Fifty Shades Darker” star explained that she would sit at restaurants and just hear the accents and later practice it in order to nail it perfectly. Jokingly, Jimmy Fallon asked her if her character was not from South Boston and had it been from France, would she be able to do a French accent? To everyone’s surprise Dakota nodded and demonstrated her French accent.
The actress further went on to demonstrate her Australian and Southern accents flawlessly, when Fallon asked her if her character was from Australia or from the South.
Australia Network News added that Johnson would be returning to shoot “Fifty Shades Darker” early next year but was not sure if they will be returning to shoot the movie in Vancouver or not. “Fifty Shades Darker” has been set for a 2017 release.
