‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Debuts at Berlin Film Festival on February 13, 2015
Fans of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele get ready! The “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie is set to make its debut at the Berlin Film Festival on Feb. 11, 2015.
Based on the best-selling 2011 erotic novel of the same name, “Fifty Shades of Grey” is definitely one of the most anticipated movie of 2015. E. L. James' erotic novel takes its readers into the realm of sado-masochistic relationship between Christian (Jamie Dornan) and Ana (Dakota Johnson). The book was so popular that it sold over 100 million copies worldwide and had been translated into more than 50 languages.
As reported by LA Times, Universal Pictures and Focus Features acquired the rights to the best-selling novel and its two sequels in March 2012, with Sam Taylor-Wood directing. The movie’s entry to the Berlin Film Festival hopefully would provide the film an “air of prestige” as well as reignite a buzz that seemed to have died down since “Fifty Shades” hit its popularity peak a few years back.
We certainly don’t think that the fandom following “Fifty Shades” had died down. After all, its trailer was named as the “Most Viewed Trailer of 2014,” as reported by TIME. The two-minute video was said to be viewed more than 100 million views, roughly the same number of books the erotic trilogy sold worldwide. It did not hurt that Beyonce had re-recorded a special stripped down version of her 2003 hit “Crazy in Love” for the film. For the second, and much longer trailer, Queen Bey returned with a track called “Haunted” to set the mood.
“Fifty Shades of Grey” hits theaters on Feb. 13, 2015.
