Finally, ‘Gambit’ Gets its Director in Doug Liman?
It seems a kind of confirmation related to the name of the director who will take over the much awaited “Gambit” is making rounds. As per latest update, Tom Cruise starrer “Edge Of Tomorrow” movie’s director Doug Liman’s name has been finalized by the Channing Tatum starrer movie’s team.
According to Yibada, it was previously revealed that Channing Tatum is in favor of giving the responsibility of directing “Gambit” to Liman’s but no confirmation related to the discussion about the same with Liman was done at that point of time. But on Oct. 19, 2015, an official confirmation has arrived not from the side of the makers or the studio handling “Gambit” but from the side of a leading daily’s reporter. Yes, Jeff Sneider of The Wrap, through his Twitter account, shared that Tatum has started talks with Liman for directing “Gambit.”
“Gambit” will be a solo add on to the X-Men movies line and since the announcement of making this movie, 20th Century Fox is continuously struggling to find a director for the same. Previously, we have heard about Rupert Wyatt leaving the project quoting so many reasons which left the team under stress and since then Tatum and the studio have been deciding upon the names.
If we talk about the projects currently in Liman kitty then we will find out two very major ones namely crime thriller “Mena” having Jan. 6, 2017, as the releasing date and sci-fi action film “Luna Park.” So, no doubt, there is no confirmation yet received from the side of “Gambit’s” makers but one thing is sure that something is really going on and this is the reason why The Wrap’s journalist took to Twitter.
Well, another point which is forcing us to believe this news is the release date of “Gambit” which is before Liman’s “Mena” meaning Oct. 7, 2016. So, keep your fingers crossed and keep reading this space.
