Previously on Episode 5 “The Heat” (air date: July 29, 2014), Carter Stevens (Kathryn Prescott) tried to find some information about Lori (Milena Govich) by learning about the police system. Taylor (Anna Jacoby-Heron), on the other hand, stepped up her relationship with Max (Alex Saxon).
In “The Fugitive,” Carter seems bummed over the idea that Crash (Caleb Ruminer) hooked up with Bird (Vanessa Morgan) in the last episode. Taylor told her that Bird called to invite her at her house. Carter refused at first but went there anyway. Bird admitted that she and Crash were only friends. She thought that Carter was okay with it. Carter admitted to her friend that she might have feelings for Crash. She even asked if Bird can accompany her to Crash’s house.
Carter and Bird found out that Crash and his mother live in a trailer. Crash nor his mother wasn’t happy that they were there. She later returned to his place in a pizza delivery guy attire. Crash was surprised when Carter kissed him. Carter wanted to know about his favorite place, but Crash went to a warehouse. He confessed that it was the place where his little brother died.
Gabe (Jesse Henderson) asked Taylor for a date. It was after the party, where Taylor kissed him as part of the game. He told her that Carter didn’t want him because Taylor liked him. When she finally agreed, Gabe thought of taking her to a miniature golf course. Taylor went to the convenient store where Max works. She asked him for an opinion about her upcoming date with Gabe. They were both upset because Max did not tell his true feelings. Later, Gabe and Taylor had a great time during their date, but they decided that their relationship was purely platonic.
Meanwhile, Kyle (Eddie Matos) gave Liz some updates about Crash’s case. He also reminded her about their first anniversary as a couple, and they were going to celebrate it. He gave her an envelope with a key to the hotel room. Little did they know, David (Alex Denisof) secretly got the key from Liz’s things at the station. He lied to Liz that he was there to give her bathing suit to her supposed “spa day” with her mother.
At home, it was obvious that Carter felt happy with her new relationship with Crash. Liz arrived and asked her about it. Carter refused to give details, but she was happy to share her ice cream. The positive mood changed when Liz told her that Crash was going to jail. A shocked Carter made a phone call. She begged Crash that he must do it for his own good. Liz heard about this, and she changed his sentence. Crash was now in probation, and he was ordered to do community service.
Back at Carter, she and Crash were busy during their date that she didn’t see her vibrating phone. The messages she received were from Max. She and Crash went to his workplace. She was surprised to see Lori again since she moved back to her real family. Lori informed her that they will reunite really soon.
