As Jason Donnelly (Aaron McCusker) became more and  more sick, Natalie Yelburn (Sienna Guillory) and Vincent Rattrey (Luke Treadaway) finally discover what exactly is happening to the residents of Fortitude. Meanwhile, Officer Eric Odegard (Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson) chased after a missing ice drill that might spell disaster to Fortitude. Read on to learn more about this episode.

As Detective Chief Inspector Eugene Morton (Stanley Tucci) lay dying in the snow, he begged Sheriff Dan Anderssen (Richard Dormer) to tell him the truth about Billy Pettigrew’s (Tam Dean Burn) death.

Dan then told him that last Christmas, he had received a call from Elena Ledesma (Veronica Echiegui), who had called for help after stabbing Billy who had been trying to force himself on her. However, when Dan got there, he discovered that Elena was handcuffed to a bed. He then hit Billy and brought him to a pylon at the shore, where he handcuffed him and watched as he was eaten by a bear. Afterwards, the now late Henry Tyson (Michael Gambon) had shot Billy in the head, prompting Dan to tell Henry to go home so that he could uncuff Billy’s dangling arm which he threw with the rest of the carcass.

Morton then asked him to confess this in order to gain inner peace. Later, Officer Petra (Alexandra Moen), during her autopsy of Morton, discovered through a picture in his wallet, that he had two young children.

Dan then told Governor Hildegard Odegard (Sofie Grabol) that he had found Henry dead, and that Morton hadn’t wanted to be moved.

At the laboratory, Natalie Yelburn (Sienna Guillory) was attacked by Jason Donnelly (Aaron McCusker), who told her that there was a “horror show” inside his mind, and that he needed to get something out of him only to put it back inside.

She told Hilda, Dan and Vincent Rattrey (Luke Treadaway) about what happened. While she was giving her report, they were interrupted by Eric, who reported that someone had beat up a maintenance man and that the ice drill was now missing. Eric then decided to track down the ice drill so that he could bring it back to Hilda in order to redeem himself in her eyes.

However, the ones who had stolen the ice drill were Yuri Lubimov (Emil Hostina) and Max Cordero (Michael Obiera), who were trying to dig up the mammoth graveyard. Yuri knew about the graveyard as Billy had shown his GPR scan to him and told him that what was under the ice was worth a lot of money.

Because of everything, Dan snapped back at Elena, who invited him to have pizza again with her and Carrie Morgan (Elizabeth Dormer-Phillips) at the Morgan home. Afterwards, the two visited Liam Sutter (Darwin Brokenbro), who just kept on muttering to the Tupalaq.

Later, Dan visited Elena, and told her what he had done to Billy. He then told her that he had done it because Billy had told him that they were the same- that they both wanted Elena, and that Dan would have done the same thing if Elena had rejected him. However, he told Elena that he would never hurt her and told her that he didn’t feel any remorse for what he had done, which made him the same as Elena, a remorseless murderer.

Meanwhile, Vincent managed to get Professor Stoddart’s (Christopher Eccleston) dead dog from the taxidermist, as he realized that every person who had become psychotic had thrown up and placed something inside another person, which made him realize that the dog might have what Liam had placed inside of the Professor as he remembered that the dog had mucus all over his snout. After examining the dog’s body, they found larva inside, which made them realize that Dr. Margaret Allerdyce (Phoebe Nicholls) needed to be examined as she was now probably the new host for whatever it was that hatched from the larva.

Inside the warehouse where the thawing mammoth leaked water into the town’s water supply, Jason lie down on top of the mammoth’s body. At the Morgan house, Elena discovered a key on the floor, and began to open the boiler room.

At Dr. Allerdyce’s room, while Natalie set up her laptop outside, Vincent watched in horror as a swarm of flies that buzzed liked bees came out of Dr. Allerdyce. He then closed the door so that it wouldn’t get out, and told Natalie to get Dan.
