The episode began with Detective Chief Inspector Eugene Morton (Stanley Tucci) entering Professor Stoddart’s (Christopher Eccleston) house. As he searched the house, he was being watched by a Russian man who saw him leave with an envelope labeled “Max 2.5” which held the Ground Penetrating Radar report of Billy Pettigrew. He had died as he had been eaten by a bear, but in reality was accidentally shot in the head by Henry Tyson (Sir Michael Gambon).
The next day, Sheriff Dan Aderssen (Richard Dormer), who was having coffee at the hotel, noticed that Frank Sutter (Nicholas Pinnock) and Elena Ledesma (Veronica Echegui) were pretty close. However, his observations and thoughts were interrupted by a phone call. Police Officer Petra told him to go to a nearby taxidermy shop where Henry was waving around with a gun and shooting around. When Dan got there, he discovered that Henry was acting up. It was because he wanted Dan to shoot him so that he could die on the island. Back at home, Dan apologized for covering up the accident that had happened, as that might have caused Henry to start drinking. He then revealed to him that he had actually felt responsible as to what had happened to Billy Pettigrew, and told him that he couldn’t help him at all.
Meanwhile, Morton spoke to his superior in London. He told them that based on the report, the town might actually be sitting on an oil field. His superior then promised to have their laboratory analyze the data he had.
Right after Dan left Henry, he and Police Officer Ingrid (Mia Jexen) went over to Kieran Donnelly’s shop. They discovered that Ronnie Morgan (Johnny Harris) had shown up the night before. He had threatened him with a blade, hurt his hand, and had tied him up so that he could give Ronnie a boat. Ingrid and Petra then went over to the Morgan house. They discovered that Carrie Morgan (Elizabeth Dormer-Philips) had taken her pet rabbit with her. Ronnie also had an unopened bottle of anti-psychotic medication. Because they know put Ronnie on the suspect’s list, and because he might just have a psychotic fit anytime, Dan decided to go with Frank to search for Ronnie via boat. He instructed Officer Eric Odegaard (Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson) to give out missing person flyers of Carrie to the villagers and to ask around as well if anyone had seen her recently.
At the harbor, Frank found it strange as the GPS coordinates of the boat showed that Ronnie was doubling back to get into town through another way. Before they left the harbor, Jules Sutter (Jessica Raine) came to tell Frank to see Liam. He had been convulsing and couldn’t breathe that morning. However, Dan insisted that Frank go with him.
Meanwhile, the Russian man who had been in Professor Stoddart’s house the night. It was before informed a man named Max that Morton had Pettigrew’s report, and that that situation was not good at all. They were then interrupted by Eric who asked them about the girl in the poster. However, they told him that they didn’t know anything about her. Eric vaguely recognized the Russian, who denied ever meeting him.
Morton then went to visit Henry. He replayed the phone call that Henry had made to his colleague. However, Henry denied having called up the police and ushered Morton out of his house. Afterwards, at the hotel, Morton watched as Trish seemed uncomfortable around Governor Hildedgard “Hildy” Odegaard (Sofie Grabol). He then told Hildy that Trish believed that she had had her husband killed as she had deleted his last voice mail to her. However, Hildy didn’t affirm or deny anything except for the fact that Trish had moved out of her house. While everyone was downstairs, the Russian took the Ground Penetrating Radar report from Morton’s room.
Meanwhile, Eric went over the Sutter house and asked Jules about Carrie. He then used her bathroom. While trying to throw a perfume bottle that he had broken, he discovered Frank’s bloody shirt. He then had Police Officer Petra (Alexandra Moen) test it to see if it was human or animal blood.
In the boat, Dan wasn’t being very helpful towards Frank. They then encountered Ronnie’s boat but only saw Carrie’s pet rabbit in the cabin.
Meanwhile, Ronnie and Carrie made their way on foot to a cabin surrounded by huskies.
At the laboratory, Jason Donelly (Aaron McCusker) discovered from Natalie that the thing that he and Ronnie had found was indeed a mammoth’s tooth. He lied about where he had found it so that he could sell it and get some money out of it.
At the governor’s office, Trish couldn’t believe that Hildy was going to send her husband’s original report. She knew that they both knew that Charlie was going to rewrite it. She also told her that despite what Hildy said, she knew that Hildy had heard the message and had deleted it.
Meanwhile, Ronnie went to the barn that held the mammoth remains. He sawed out a part of it so that he could trade it for tickets for him and Carrie to go to Norway. He then reassured her that she had nothing to do with Professor Stoddart’s death.
At the coast near where they had found Ronnie’s boat, Dan confronted Frank about his personal life. It was right now getting in the way of his job, however, Frank to him to mind his own business. As soon as they had arrived at the docks, after learning that Frank’s shirt had human blood on it, he instructed Eric to keep Frank there while he went to the police station. There, he informed everyone that Frank was their new suspect, and burst into Elena’s room, where Frank was taking a shower. Furious, Dan beat Frank in the shower until he was unconscious and bleeding. Because of this, Elena kicked him out of her room. However, the entire scene was seen by Ingrid, Petra and Morton, who had been shaving in his bathroom next door.
