Four A-List Celebs Reportedly Up for ‘Suicide Squad’ Roles

Superhero business has lately boomed, especially for Ryan Gosling who has been recently rumored to star in several superhero pics, such as DC’s recently revealed "Suicide Squad." The actor is rumored to star along with three more A-list actors. Read on for more details on this story.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Gosling is rumored to star in DC’s "Suicide Squad" alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy. Gosling, who has repeatedly turned down offers to star in superhero flicks, has been reported of fielding offers from major superhero tentpoles, such as Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” Summit’s adaptation of “The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero” and DC’s "Suicide Squad." Johnny Depp was initially set to star in the Dean Parisot-directed pic "Houdini." However, it seems the actor won’t be available since he will be filming for the new installment of Disney’s "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tells No Tales,” which will be filming for half a year in 2015.

“Fury” director David Ayer is set to helm the pic, which Warner Brothers Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara describes as "a gritty story of a team of supervillains who take on black ops missions for the U.S. government.”

Ayer was was known as the writer for the film “Training Day,” directed by Antoine Fuqua and starred Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, and was also director and writer of the “End of Watch” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña. He directed the recently released war pic “Fury,” which stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman.

There are no reports yet who would join the "Suicide Squad" line-up. In the graphic novels, the most common members of Suicide Squad include Bronze Tiger and Deadshot, although Batman villain Harley Quinn has become the face of the group since the launch of the New 52. "Suicide Squad" is set to be released in 2016.

That’s it for our latest scoop on Warner Brother’s “Suicide Squad,” reportedly casting Ryan Gosling, Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy. For more updates on your favorite TV shows, celebrity news, events and upcoming pics, make it a habit to visit Movie News Guide (MNG).
