How Fox And Marvel Can Save The ‘Fantastic Four?’
Should Marvel Studios get back the movie rights for “Fantastic Four” from the 20th Century Fox? This has been the question since the film has received poor critics and under-performance at the box-office. Read on for more details.
Comic book fans express their desire that to Disney-owned Marvel Studios should get back the rights to every Comic book characters and stories from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
According to Screen Rant, Marvel Studios got the licenses of all its main comic characters Blade, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Punisher, and Avengers, few years ago. Even “Spider-Man” series that was under Sony Pictures was relaunched into the successful MCU, with an unmatched partnership of Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, earlier this year.
The “Fantastic Four,” which was a FOX-owned Marvel branded movie, was released recently on Aug. 7, 2015, after a mess – alleged trouble on set, several delays, and intensive re-shoots. The film received poor critics and it is not that much successful at the box office as it was expected.
“Fantastic Four 2,” the sequel to the original film was scheduled for June 2017. However, due to the drastic underperformance of the “Fantastic Four” at the box office, the plan for the sequel is uncertain.
After the “Fantastic Four” reboot was released, it was a question whether Marvel should get back the movie rights of “Fantastic Four” from the 20th Century Fox.
Hitfix claimed that would continue their plan for developing “Fantastic Four 2.” It was if they aim to keep the “Fantastic Four” series film license with them. However, it is difficult for them to take the decision right now as it is too early since the film was just released a week before.
Now, the studio is in a position that is similar to what Sony Pictures was last year. It was when they were not successful to revive “The Amazing Spider-Man” franchise with its sequel. However, Fox has time until 2022 to come out with the sequel for the “Fantastic Four.” In case they fail to do it, Marvel would get back the movie rights from them. Also, if Fox and Marvel work together to relaunch the “Fantastic Four,” we could expect a commendable future for the “Fantastic Four” franchise.
