Fred Willard Accused Of Lewd Conduct
On Wednesday, veteran actor Fred Willard was arrested by police for alleged lewd conduct in a movie theatre located in Hollywood. The veteran actor was found by police with his trousers down around his ankles in the Tiki Theatre.
Police said they were making a routine pass by and not a sting operation when they found Willard. The police said they have an agreement with the theater that allows them to enter the theater to check to see if any illegal activities are taking place.
Police arrested Willard at 8:45 pm PDT and then booked him at the police station. He was released shortly thereafter the same night.
An announcement was made by PBS on Thursday that said Willard would no longer narrate their new show Market Warriors. The show was a spinoff of another successful PBS show. Willard’s rep or publicist has not made any comment about what had taken place.
Willard has appeared in numerous shows on television as well as films. He is well known for his appearances in American Wedding, King of the Hill, Wall-E, Everyone loves Raymond, Roxanne and Modern Family among others.
The majority of Hollywood sources said Willard was 72, but official records in certain places list him as 79 years of age. He now joins a list of celebrities who have also been arrested under similar circumstances. Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman) was arrested in 1991 for indecent exposure at a similar type theater. In addition, George Michael was arrested and subsequently convicted of a lewd act at a public restroom in Beverly Hills.
