FX’s Partners

“Partners” is a new comedy starring Kelsey Grammer (“Transformer: Age of Extinction”) and Martin Lawrence (“Bad Boys”). It premieres on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on FX. Read on to know more about this show.

“Partners” brings back seasoned television actors like Grammer and Lawrence to the small screen. In this new series, they will play Chicago lawyers with opposite backgrounds. The two cross paths in court due to personal problems, with one being fired and the other going through a divorce, and begin to forge a friendship and a business partnership, while they both learn to adjust to each other’s quirks.  Allen Braddock (Grammer) is described as kind of an elitist, while Marcus Jackson (Lawrence) is more of a people-person.

“The guy I play needs a new reputation. He’s known as a charlatan and a shark and a schmuck. The guy Martin plays has gone the way of least resistance as well. He wants to be a do-gooder, but he has no money,” said Grammer in an interview with LA Times.

Grammer and Lawrence serve as executive producers of their show, which has been given a 10-episode order by FX. According to reports, if “Partners” resonates with the viewers once it airs, FX would be giving the series an additional 90-episode order, guaranteeing at least a five-season run.

The series also stars Rory O’ Malley, Telma Hopkins, Edi Patterson, McKaley Miller and Daniele Watts. SpoilerTV has exclusively released a teaser to “Partners.”

Lawrence’s last appearance in a comedy on TV was in 1997, with the show “Martin,” which aired on FOX. Before his hiatus, he had been actively doing movies. Grammer, on the other hand, holds the longest record for playing a TV character for almost 20 years, as Frasier Crane on both “Frasier” and “Cheers.” These Emmy-winning shows ran for 11 seasons, each on NBC. He also tried his hand at drama, playing a cunning mayor on “Boss” for Starz. The series was cancelled in November 2012.
