‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6: Who Is The New Member Of The Kingsguard?
There are so many things to discuss from the “Game of Thrones” season 5 finale. What has happened to Queen Daenerys? What will happen to Sansa and Theon (oops Reek)? What about John? And every questions deserve their own posts and last night, in all the deaths and dragons, we saw a new face. Alright! We only saw his eyes!
After Cersei’s horrific walk of shame, maester Qybun welcomes her to Red Keep with sympathy and cloths to cover her body and he introduces her to the newest member in the Kingsguard. A large (more than 7 feet tall) brute of man and according to Qybun, this new Kingsguard has taken a vow of silence until he destroys all of Cersei’s enemies. This new Kingsguard lifts up Cersei like she is a toy and carries her towards the big castle.
We only saw the eyes of this new Kingsuard but who is he?
Remember how Arya Stark travelling companion The Hound always talked about his brother who destroyed a better part of his face? Or, the one who killed one of the most charismatic character of “Game of Thrones” Oberyn Martell in the trial combat which sealed Tyrion’s guilt in King Joffrey’s death? In the book, this knight is called as Ser Robert Strong but he goes with the name, The Mountain, based on his size and height.
We last saw Gregor when he was brutally damaged by Oberyn and ever since then, maester Qybun is trying very hard to give life in his body and with the look in eyes (his eyes is the only visible part of his face which we saw) we are clear that Oberyn has succeeded in his experiments.
Soon Cersei has to face a trial for her sins against the Mother and if The Mountain is by her side then there are fewer chances that she will lose a trial by combat. For that to see, we all have to wait for one entire year for the next season of “Game of Thrones.”
