‘Game of Thrones’ Movie Update: George R.R. Martin Confirms The Movie Isn’t Happening

Due to the success of “Game of Thrones,” rumours started circulating a few months ago that a movie is happening. However, the creator of the novel “A Book of Ice And Fire” where the HBO hit series is based from George R.R. Martin finally cleared the air on this particular issue. Read on for more details.

Sorry fans, but a “Game of Thrones” movie isn’t happening. According to Christian Post, Martin released a statement about this through his own blog site. The author explained that there is really a great enthusiasm and anticipation for a movie but fans should be cautious on what they read on the Internet because not everything out there is deemed to be true.

“I don’t know where this latest round of ‘there’s going to be a ‘Game of Thrones’ movie’ nonsense is coming from, but suddenly it is everywhere, and all of us connected with the show and HBO are being bombarded. But nothing has changed,” he said in her LiveJournal blog.

Still, the author isn’t letting go of that notion quite easily. It was because he admits that a movie is attractive for him as well as for the people who are involved in the “Game of Thrones” series. Martin even thinks that a movie would be a great way to end the series. But still, he quashed movie rumours again saying that it is not likely to happen especially because of the fact that the home network of the series, HBO, is into TV business and have no plans as of the moment to venture on the big screen.

Meanwhile, HBO’s president Michael Lombardo admitted that he has heard of movie rumours about “Game of Thrones.” He said that doing a movie would change the rules of the business and it’s not something that they plan to look into as of the moment.

“Game of Thrones” Season 6 will premiere in 2016.
