Game of Thrones Season 4 Episode 8 Recap: The Mountain and The Viper [WATCH VIDEO]
After 2 weeks with no “Game of Thrones” (GOT), we can now finally breathe a sigh of relief because they’re back! It was brutal and emotional. So, what do we have in the latest episode of “Game of Thrones” Season 4, Episode 8 “The Mountain and The Viper?” Read on to find out more about it.
The trial by combat that we have all been waiting for has already happened. As expected, it was brutal. It was also sad. The battle was between Oberyn “The Red Viper” against Ser Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane. This combat is very critical for Tyrion Lannister because if Oberyn loses, he is going to be executed. So, the battle was amazing with Oberyn’s fighting style, which made everything so thrilling. His spear can reach even reach “The Mountain” to counter his attacks. At first, we really thought Oberyn is going to make it but no, not in “Game of Thrones” because Oberyn had to get near Clegane and… die. Yes, that’s another death on the list, fans.
With Oberyn’s death, Tyrion is left with no options. The only person he can trust is his brother, Jaime, but Jaime has already done a lot for him and Pod and Brienne are gone. Plus, it doesn’t look like Varys would be of any help to him now. So, the question here is, what is going to happen to him now that Oberyn is dead and he lost the trial by combat?
In other GOT news, the death of Oberyn produced a new enemy for the Lannisters: Dorne. This is going to be pretty exciting, with more and more enemies that the Lannisters are acquiring, is their downfall getting closer and closer?
At the Eyrie, we wonder how Littlefinger is going to explain the death of Lysa. It’s as if there’s no way out for him but the lying and manipulative Baelish managed to worm his way out of that hole when he declared that the “crazy woman killed herself.” He even called Sansa to be his witness.
At first, Sansa appeared as if she was going to turn against Baelish when he retold her story of coming to the Vale. But, it was such a great act when surprisingly, she was on Petyr’s side, which impressed Littlefinger so much. After the trial, Sansa told Petyr that she knows what he wants… so what did she do?
The scene where she was wearing a black gown and dyed her hair black with a different walk and facial expression was a shocker. It looks like she’s trying to copy her mom to satisfy Littlefinger and with this, wow, Sansa, we are impressed. It looks like she’s learning and she’s not going to be a victim anymore. The question here is, how far is she willing to go?
